I Am Full of Joy

April 27, 2009

John 15:11 “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

John 17:13 “But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full
in themselves. NASU

Psalms 16:11 “In Your presence is fullness of joy” NASU

This is a continuation from yesterday’s ideas, and brings home more the fact of how much God is really interested
in our having joy. This joy has actions to it. Remember what all Chip Brim mentioned about joy when he was here;
chest bumping Jesus in heaven and people coming forward in worship and showing joy to Our God in worship. At
that time I mentioned a scripture in, Luke 10:21 At that very time He (Jesus) rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, NASU
the Greek word for rejoice here is agalliao see definitions below

NT: 21 agalliao (ag-al-lee-ah’-o); from agan (much) and NT: 242; properly, to jump for joy, i.e. exult:
KJV – be (exceeding) glad, with exceeding joy, rejoice (greatly).
NT: 242 hallomai (hal’-lom-ahee); middle voice of apparently a primary verb; to jump; figuratively, to gush:
KJV – leap, spring up.

I think the best description of how Jesus looked when He was rejoicing greatly was the one we see of David leaping
and dancing with all of his might before the ark of God.   2 Sam 6:16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city
of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD;
and she despised him in her heart.  KJV

OT: 3769 karar (kaw-rar’); a primitive root; to dance (i.e. whirl): -dance (-ing).

I would encourage you to finish this chapter in Samuel, you will see David’s wife Michal got in trouble for criticizing
him and his response was I will do it again with more exuberance because I was doing it for MY LORD and all the
people would honor him for it.  I WANT TO ENCOURGAE YOU IF YOU NEVER HAVE OR HAVEN’T RECENTLY
FIND A TIME AND A PLACE, TO IN FAITH JUMP AND LEAP BEFORE THE LORD IN THE JOY OF YOUR SALVATION….
I believe as you do this you will experience a great joy coming into your life.

Give each other space

April 27, 2009

You are one unit, but you are also individuals – you need to give each other space to do your own thing. Really! Time apart doing what you love can increase your relationship satisfaction because you get to engage in activities that you like and then come together to talk about those things with your spouse.

Let your kids see you reading God’s Word. You are their example.

I abide in love

April 20, 2009

I ABIDE IN LOVE.

John 15:9-11 “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.  10 ” If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.”  NASU

We are to keep Jesus commandments and abide in His love, and we do this by faith. By the faith which comes by hearing Christ words and believing them. We believe that Christ loves me and gave his life for me, thus I obey him willingly, because of His great love demonstrate on the cross. Notice that Jesus said He had spoken these things so that “HIS JOY MAY BE IN YOU’. Get a hold of this for a moment, can there be any greater joy that we might experience than the joy that comes from the One who has made it all, so this is the One who actually came up with joy as an emotion… can there be a joy that is any greater than HIS. So abiding in HIS love and keeping HIS commandments HE wants us to do, so that we might experience this great joy. And we will as we rest and stay in, dwell in (abide), are confident in HIS great love, this will motivate us to keep HIS WORD and the more we keep HIS WORD the more we will experience HIS LOVE and JOY!!!

Ps 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. NKJV

Nehemiah 8:10 Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”  NASU

Nehemiah 12:43 On that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced because God had given them great joy, even the women and children rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard from afar.  NASU

Romans 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing NASU

1 Peter 1:8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. NIV

THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH!!

Two halves do not become a “whole”. Regular mathematics do NOT apply in marriage. Two halves do not become a “whole”. Two wholes become a whole. It only works when 100% of you gives 100% to him/her. If you’re giving 50%, you’re only giving half of yourself. It’s like that ‘new math’ you don’t understand… you know, 1 + 1 can = 5.

Share the insights that you are learning from God’s Word with your children so that they begin to share what they are getting from it, with you. That is what makes God’s word alive and relevant in your family.

Learn memory verses together each week.  Take turns talking about them, learning more what they mean, and quiz each other.

John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for
apart from Me you can do nothing.” NASU

John 15:8 “My Father is glorified by this that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.” NASU

John 15:16 ”You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit,
and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. NASU

What is the much fruit that we are to bear and will remain? This is my understanding of fruit and much fruit is in
a simple statement that says “Only what is done for Christ will last”. How we obey God’s Word and the leading
of the Holy Spirit, in our heart attitude, and actions that portrait the true character of Christ, determine the fruit
that is being produced. When we share Christ love in our words, attitudes, and actions (works) this determines
whether we are building with gold, silver, and precious stones (fruit that remains) and this also determines how
we are focused on things that are eternal and these things are what God will be rewarding us on.

1 Cor 3:12-15 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold , silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
13 each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire
itself will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive
a reward. 15 If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
NASU

MAY YOU RECEIVE ALL OF THE REWARDS GOD HAS SET ASIDE FOR YOU!!!!

Communicate

April 13, 2009

Work really hard at understanding each other. Men are not as good as women at verbalizing what is going on with them emotionally. Women need to work a little harder at deciphering what is going on for their husbands when they’re upset.  Seek first to understand and then you will be understood.

Keep your word

April 6, 2009

If you make a commitment to your child make sure you keep your word to them, no matter how inconvenient or how much you want to skip it.  They first begin to understand God keeping His word, by your example.
